2011 COMES TO AN END:

  

 *THE DODD-FRANK FINANCIAL REFORM BILL AND THE RECENTLY APPROVED TERMINS OF A DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE LAWSUIT NOW ALLOW MERCHANTS TO SET MINIMUMS PURCHASE AMOUNTS OF $10 OR LESS.  tHE RULE APPLIES ONLY TO CREDIT CARDS; NO MINIMUMS ARE ALLOWED ON DEBIT CARDS.

THE NEW RULES ALSO ALLOW MERCHANTS TO OFFER DISCOUNTS OR OTHER INCENTIVES FOR PAYMENT BY CASH, CHECKS, DEBIT CARDS OR CREDIT CARDS, PROVIDED THAT THE INCENTIVES DO NOT DIFFERENTIATE ON THE BASIS OF CARD ISSUER.

  

*HAVE YOU COMPLETED YOUR PCI COMPLIANCE SAQ? NON COMPLIANT MERCHANTS IN 2012 MAY BEGIN RECEIVING MONTHLY PENALTY FEES.

 

*DO YOUR EMPLOYEES CHECK ID AND COMPARE SIGNATURES ? THIS WILL HELP YOU TO AVOID A LOSS BECAUSE OF A STOLEN CARD.

 

*ALWAYS GET THE 3 DIGIT CVV NUMBER FROM THE BACK OF THE CARD AND THE BILLING ADDRESS OF CARD HOLDER WHEN ACCEPTING ORDERS BY PHONE.
