Seasons Greetings!
Seasons Greetings!
Payment Systems Worldwide wishes all of our merchants a joyous and prosperous holiday season. We would like you to continue to practice safe procedures over the busy shopping season to protect your business and your customers from theft and fraud. Below we have listed tools that will ensure your business and your customer's are safe.
Transaction Checklist:
Make sure all transactions are swiped or manually imprinted at the point of sale.
Always ask for the customer's driver's license before swiping a card.
Obtain customer's signature on every sales slip and make sure it matches the name on the credit card and driver's license.
Protection Against Fraud:
Always use the voice authorization when receiving a Call or PIC message on the terminal screen. This may be due to a lost or stolen card.
Do not break purchases up into two transactions using the same card. This can result into chargebacks for you as well as costly fees.
Be alert to phone orders that may be considered suspicious such as unusually large orders, requests to use two different cards for purchasing and shipping, and orders that are requested to ship overseas.
Situations to Avoid:
Do not accept a card that receives a decline response at the terminal.
Do not accept cards that have an expiration date prior to the date of the sale.
Do not give cash refunds for returned goods or cancelled services orginally purchased with a credit card.
Do not process credit card transactions for sales belonging to another business.
Do not process your own personal or business credit cards at your place of business.
